Community Involvement

Mt. McKinley Bank, at its very core, is a community bank. We were established in 1965 to assist interior Alaskans with the dream of owning their own home. The bank founders chose a Mutual structure so that the vision of helping Alaskans would always be in the forefront of everything we do.

I have had the great pleasure of working for Mt. McKinley Bank for over 40 years. I have witnessed firsthand many of the great things this bank does for the communities it serves. From the earliest days when we were the place to go to sign up children for little league and soccer, to the present when we have committed tens of thousands of dollars each year to area nonprofits. We believe in the power of our nonprofits and the good that they do for all of us. We have always served our communities with pride.

We contribute a greater percentage of our profits each year than other “local Alaskan” financial institutions. In fact, we have contributed more in dollars than some banks or credit unions that are over 5 times our size!

That’s not all! We help our customer’s everyday by not charging huge fees to do business with us. As a Mutual we offer many deposit products that are free to use; many loan products with lower rates than our competitors and fewer fees for services.

We do all of this while remaining financially strong. Today our capital is twice what the federal regulators recommend for a strong financial institution. Especially now in the midst of this health crisis, we are proud to be a part of and support the local community.
